On 15 July 2005, the Ministry of Trade and Industry of Kenya decreed that products on the controlled list for export to Kenya should be cleared with a "Product Conformity" certificate, proving that the goods meet the technical standards and regulations in Kenya.
Since 18 January 2012, the Kenya Standards Authority has required pre-shipment compliance certification (PVOC) for goods imported into Kenya.
The aim is to ensure the quality of imported products and protect the health of Kenyans and the environment.

Technological process:

1. Provide IDF, invoice boxes, test reports, etc.

2. Submit the application and arrange the inspection (supervision) after the examination and approval.

3. After the inspection (supervisory loading) is qualified, the organization shall draw up a draft.

4. Confirm the draft and issue the original certificate.

Processing cycle of Kenya PVOC certificate:
Audit time: 2-3 working days (the audit time may be extended according to the number of product names)
Inspection time: according to the specific schedule of the inspection department and the customer, the on-site inspection date will be determined.
Issue time: after passing the inspection, the draft will be sent to the customer for confirmation within 3 working days.

Notes for handling PVOC certificate in Kenya:
1. Product, internal and external packaging label and shelf life
All labels must be in English or Swahili.

In addition, the product model, brand, manufacturer, grade, category and other basic contents are also needed
Bagged products such as food, medicine, cosmetics, etc. should be marked with the quantity, production date and shelf life of each bag.
The product must be at least 75% of its sell-by date upon arrival in Kenya.
2. Counterfeit products
Even if fake product quality meets the standard, also cannot obtain the certificate.
3. Motorcycle
All used motorcycles should comply with Kenya KS1515:2000 standard. Some special types of vehicles such as ambulances and fire engines are not suitable for "right side driving" and "service life" requirements.
