UAE ECAS Certification

In order to ensure the quality of products that affect the health and safety of consumers, the Government of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has stipulated that from May 2010, regulated products must provide evidence of their compliance with international safety standards, be audited and registered by the UAE Certification Body before they can be sold to the UAE.
Products currently under control include: radios or telecommunications terminal equipment, some electronic household appliances, children's toys, motorcycle batteries and motor oil, paint/detergent, porcelain tubes/tiles, etc.

At present, the general registration method is type certification.
ESMA assesses all regulated products to meet specific technical specifications before they are supplied to the UAE market.
Prior to submitting the type certification request, the applicant should have a local importer/distributor/distributor registered with the certification body.

The ECAS Certificate of Conformity (CoC) is a mandatory product type certification and is valid for 1 year.

The latest certification requirements for the export of auto parts to the UAE will be implemented from 1 January 2019

The Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology (ESMA) has published the technical requirements of the Cabinet Resolution No. 12 of 2018, which stipulates that all automobile parts under control shall conform to the UAE Assessment Scheme (the UAE Assessment Scheme) and issue a Conformity Certificate,
The regulation will take effect on Jan 1, 2019.
UAE implements interim ECAS RoHS certification scheme.

The transition period for the implementation of the UAE RoHS regulations is about to expire. From January 2020, products under the UAE RoHS control will have to hold a certificate of RoHS compliance before they can enter the UAE market.

Due to the recent surge in demand for the UAE ECAS RoHS certification, the UAE Regulatory Authority ESMA has just announced the provisional certification scheme. From now until 31 December 2019, ECAS RoHS certificates can be issued only on the basis of a RoHS Compliance Declaration signed by a local importer or agent in the UAE, without the need to provide a RoHS test report.

The interim programme applies to the following regulated products:

Household appliances and electronic products

Information exchange products

Lamps and lanterns

Electric tools

Toy

Medical products

Audio-video products

UAE energy efficiency guidelines for washing machines, dryers, dishwashers

UAE.S 5010-2:2019, UAE.S 5010-6:2019 will become mandatory on 16 December 2019 in accordance with ESMA's Implementation Guide V1.0 issued on 12 November 2019.

Scope of application: washing machine, clothes dryer, dishwasher

UAE.S 5010-2:2019, UAE.S 5010-6:2019 will be enforced on December 16, 2019.

All products within the regulatory control specified in the implementation guide must provide a valid certificate of conformity (ECAS or EQM) by December 16, 2019 inclusive

All products under the regulatory control specified in the implementation guidelines must be equipped with a valid Energy Efficiency Label (EESL) and RFID tag by April 1, 2020, including.
Energy efficiency labels without valid RFID tags will be deemed invalid.

Products placed in the local market (without packaging) should be placed in the most prominent position of the product with the combination of effective energy efficiency label and RFID tag for easy viewing by local consumers/buyers/market monitoring agencies.
Products (with packaging) placed in the local market should be placed in the most prominent position of the package with the combination of effective energy efficiency label and RFID tag for easy inspection by local consumers/buyers/market monitoring agencies.
Effective energy efficiency labels and RFID tags should be provided to consumers and buyers along with products.
